Lisa decides to surprise Jerry, who is four days (June 18, 2009) away from arriving from Florida FOR GOOD, and paint the garage. After much research she decides a nice shiny, epoxy floor would be fine. However, she remembers that the slab was sealed during construction . . . uh, oh, not smart . . . epoxy will not adhere to concrete sealer . . . more research on how to remove it . . . a diamond grinder? Are you kidding? Yes, a diamond grinder. Who has a diamond grinder?? After a week of checking, Tomas our handyman comes through - he finds a rental place in Blairsville and one Friday he shows up with a gigantic floor buffer with little carbide squares . . . 5 hours later. . . . done . . . . 3 hours later . . . . clean up . . . five hours later Lisa finishes up with the Muriatic Acid wash (why are my eyelashes falling out?) Kidding I wore a mask but it was awful . . .foaming and smoking and smelling. Neutralize with baking soda . . . triple wash the floor with water. A baseboard trim peice pops out. Go get the hammer. 9pm and its time to let it all dry for the paint he next day and TAKE A SHOWER!
The next day, Saturday June 13, is painting day for Lisa. Resand glossy areas, damp mop. Now get the final dust off. Watch the paint video again (EPOXY-COAT.COM). I did tell you I ordered this over the internet? Mix in batches for 10X12 at a time. Yes I bought the spike shoes so I can walk in it! If I were to tell you ONE THING this would be it - get the spikes! What a dream, walking in paint. Squeegee and backroll, next mix, next section, now throw the paint flakes up in the air! Great. Next section, backroll, flake - Yippee!
Done. Clean up. TAKE A SHOWER!
Hope Jerry is surprised. . . .
